VX and UX Features: SoulPatch
By balancing VX decisions with user functionality needs, this band’s website presented a professional foot forward while serving as a connection point for both fans and booking asgents.
Freelance
Overview
SoulPatch is a band local to the Boise area. They had been playing for 5 years at the time of approaching me to help them with their web presence. At the time, I was working for Pithworks Agency and saw it as an opportunity to approach their needs from both a Branding and UX perspective.
The Process
Understand and Empathize
Visitors of the site are in two categories with two different objectives. Fans want to come to the site to view the schedule and view content the band posts on their social media accounts in one location. Booking agents want to evaluate the band’s professionalism and have a way to reach out for booking.
The Problem
Social media was insufficient in showing the band’s schedule, contact info, and level of professionalism. The client needed a user-friendly way to update content on their event calendar.
The Solution
For this project, I collaborated with a local freelance developer to produce a custom wordpress template that checked all the boxes for the band: 1. Push people to contact points (social media, contact form, and phone #) and 2. Look badass but professional.
Branding
SoulPatch is a country cover band that plays in the Boise area. Early on working with them, they wanted to look professional and have an established brand that they could use for all of their social media, their website, and any other promotional material that their events commonly requests. We've even gone as far as shooting and producing a couple music videos for them.
